Meals On Your Vacation

The Special Journeys tour group always has breakfast at the hotel each morning.

Hotel Breakfast buffet

One of our other meals is typically at a full restaurant, such as IHOP, Denny’s, a barbecue restaurant, or a local restaurant that you don’t have at home.

For our third meal, we use a quick-service-type restaurant, such as Chick‐fil‐A, Firehouse Subs, Culvers, Arby’s, or Noodles and Co. Normally, we do not visit McDonald’s, Burger King, or Wendy’s, though there can be exceptions.

Full-Service Restaurants

At full-service restaurants, the Tour Leader and Travel Companions help you get seated. Whenever possible, you will be seated at a table with a Travel Companion to assist you with ordering from the menu and any other assistance you require. We do not order appetizers or desserts because of portion control and dietary issues that many travelers face. The Tour Leader pays the bill and handles tipping the restaurant staff. The Tour Leader lets everyone know when it’s time to board the bus at the end of the meal.

Quick Service Restaurants

The Tour Leaders often take your food order before we arrive. We have menus with photos available on the bus to help you choose. When we arrive, the Travel Companions assist with exiting the bus and helping you choose a seat in the restaurant. Whenever possible, you will be seated at a table with a Travel Companion to provide whatever assistance you may need. The Tour Leader will take care of ordering the food. Tour Leaders and Travel Companions bring your food and drink to you.
