Say Aloha with Special Journeys on an extraordinary trip to the island of Kauai.

Nicknamed the ‘Garden Isle’ this tropical paradise located in the Central Pacific offers stunning views, dramatic cliffs, and a lush tropical rainforest. This dynamic landscape offers some of the most diverse geography and is home to many unique and endangered species of plants and animals that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in the world. On this trip you’ll get to experience the beautiful weather where the temperature stays at an average of 78 degrees year-round. But, don’t forget to pack a raincoat, the island is lush and a beautifully green due to the high levels of average rain.

We’ll be sure to enjoy some of the wonderful beaches of the island while on the trip as well. Kauai is famous for its dramatic cliffs that drop into the ocean as well as nearly 50 miles of shimmering white sand coasts. These beaches are so famous that you’ll probably recognize them from seeing them in such movies as Jurassic Park, Hook, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The island makes for the perfect backdrop for many Hollywood movies, and we can’t let a trip to Kauai pass without making sure we make time to enjoy a movie tour.

Up next on our island tour brings us to Spouting Horn. Located on the South Shore, this is one of the most photographed spots on the island where the ocean water channels into a lava tube and releases a huge soup of water that can reach up to 50 feet high. And when that happens, you’ll hear a hiss and a roar that is the basis of a Hawaiian legend about an angry lizard named Kaikapu.

For dinner we’ll step aboard a boat to enjoy a wonderful sunset cruise. Here we’ll enjoy the stunning water views along the shimmering coastline. The boat will take us along the Na Pali Coast where there are grand uninhabited peaks of coastline. These narrow, steep, green peaks pierce the sky while water cascades down to the ocean. Be sure to keep you eyes out for a variety of sea animals that like to make an appearance. From dolphins, humpback whales, jellyfish turtles and more.

The next day takes us back to the island for a tour of the Kauai Coffee Plantation. Here we will stroll through the coffee orchard. The Kauai Coffee Estate is the largest coffee farm in the United States. We’ll learn about how the coffee is grown, harvested, and roasted all on the island. Before heading onto our next adventure, we’ll stop at the Kauai Coffee shop to find a gift or two to bring home.

Of course, one of the things that make Hawaii such a special place is its culture and while on the island we’ll enjoy an authentic Kauai luau. This show provides a breathtaking performance by talented local performers, live musicians, and stunning costumery. While we enjoy a delicious buffet dinner we’ll be captivated watching fire poi ball twirlers, fire knife dancing, hula dancing and more.

We’ll also make time to stop and shop at Hilo Hatties. Known as ‘The Store of Hawai’I” Hilo Hatties will be our ultimate shopping destination. This is the best place to go for any and all things Hawaii. This amazing shop has everything from Hawaiian shirts, dresses, and jewelry to island flavors such as sauces, syrups, chocolates and sweets specific to Kauai, so make sure you leave some room in you r suitcase to bring home a special Hawaiian treat!
