Join Special Journeys as we head to beautiful LeClaire, Iowa! Situated along the Mississippi River, LeClaire is home to eclectic shops, splendid river views, and unique experiences. If you're looking for a fun, relaxing trip that's close to home, then sign on up!

We will begin our trip with a ride on the Riverboat Twilight. There's no better way to experience the Mississippi River than to hop aboard an old-fashioned riverboat. The cruise will depart from the Port of LeClaire and will travel north to take in the sights of Pt Byron and Princeton, Iowa as well as Cordova, Illinois. We'll sit in the wooden rocking chairs on the blue and white ship, adorned with intricate iron rails and relax while taking in the sights and wildlife upon the shore. This special riverboat was designed and built as a replica to the lavish Victorian steamboats and are reminders of the classic boats Mark Twain called 'Floating Palaces'. Our first day we'll enjoy the beautiful ship and dine on delicious three course meals as we start our way to our destination, Dubuque, Iowa. When we are dining on the delicious food and looking at the wildlife of the river, we can sit and enjoy the on-board entertainment. We'll listen to the boat's band, complete with banjos and guitars, play music to really get us into the spirit of the Mississippi!

Once we arrive to Dubuque we'll settle into the Grand Harbor Resort for the evening which is located on the Mississippi Riverfront. In the morning, we'll visit the National Mississippi River Museum which is a must-see and Smithsonian-accredited. This wonderful facility allows us to explore all about the river we've just spent time on. We learn about how boats are launched into the river, see how historic artisans used hand tools to make boats, listen to stories of explorers of the area and many other historic items that will allow us to really appreciate the area.

After our time spent in Dubuque we board the boat to travel back to LeClaire. Once back, our next stop is for history buffs. We'll shop and explore the many treasures at Antique Archaeology. This shop is the home base for the History Channel's show, American Pickers. In the show, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz travel across America in search of rare artifacts and treasures so that they can sell at Antique Archaeology. On the show, Mike and Frank rummage through old barns, homes, and basements of owners' homes for valuables. These special items can usually be found tucked into corners or piled into old boxes that haven't been touched for years. They particularly like to find classic toys and items having to do with the auto industry. With over 250 episodes, we're certain that they've found a lot of one-of-a-kind eclectic items to fill up the shop!
