Yee Haw Ya'll!!! Strap on those cowboy boots and join us on a journey to big ol’ Texas! This trip has something for everyone, food, music, history, nature and unique art. We begin the journey with a stop just outside of Dallas at the Texas Musicians Museum. You don’t have to be a country music fan to enjoy this museum, it celebrates all genres of music from rock, soul, pop and showcases memorabilia from anything Texas related. We’ll see items from Texas music legends as Buddy Holly, Janis Joplin, Selena, Beyonce and ZZ Top.
On the way to San Antonio we may (or may not, you’ll just have to come and see) stop at Barney Smith’s Toilet Seat Art Museum. Toilet seat art? Sure is! Run by 96-year-old Barney Smith, there are so many toilet seat art pieces you might just be able to find that perfect souvenir to bring home from you Texas adventure!
Next stop on this journey brings us to San Antonio where we take a winding tour along the city center's River Walk. Here we will enjoy the oasis of the cypress-line paths that follow the San Antonio River in the center of town. Enjoy the sights of the city, view the Mexican and Spanish inspired architecture along the way, or stop at any of the wonderful restaurants and shops. Who doesn't love a little bit of shopping?? Make sure you say hello to the Ambassador Amigos, native San Antonians wearing brightly colored shirts and straw hats who can answer any of your questions about the area. They may even show you where to buy one of their matching shirts and hats!
Just steps away from the River is The Alamo. Our tour will include a walk along the historic site where Texas volunteer soldiers occupied a Franciscan mission during the war for independence from Mexico. We will get a glimpse at to what Texas might have been like over 300 years ago. After the tour will want to know if you would volunteer to help James Bowie and Davy Crockett defend the Alamo on this Texas adventure?
Our final activity of the day brings us to the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Gardens. You get to view native Texas flowers, ferns, and exotic plants such as orchids and roses. And because there are so many lush plants and flowers around, they'll be plenty of birds to watch too. Black-chinned Hummingbirds and Purple Martins are frequent visitors to the Gardens. But if you're lucky enough, you may see a vividly colored Painted Bunting (which only travel as far north as Oklahoma!), they are bright blue, yellow, green, and red.
Don’t miss out on this exciting Texan adventure!
