Walking Level: Light
Signup Deadline: Tuesday, April 23, 2019
Wheelchair Accessible Trip
Join us for the late spring trip to a most wonderful area of the country, Scenic South Dakota!
Our first stop on the journey begins with a visit to the Crazy Horse Memorial in the heart of the Black Hills. This monument which honors the Oglala Lakota warrior, is still under construction however, when finished it may become the world's largest sculpture. We'll take time at the memorial to learn more about the long history of this sight while enjoying dinner at the onsite restaurant. You won't want to miss it!
Our next stop brings us to Mount Rushmore. Tucked in the Black Hills of western South Dakota, this will be an impressive sight you won't want to miss. The sculptures are a memorial to our late Presidents, are 60 feet tall, and covers over one thousand acres! No wonder it took approximately 14 years to create. We will take time to enjoy lunch at the park with the spectacular view. After lunch, we will make our way to Blue Bell Lodge for a Chuckwagon Ride. Nestled in the mountains, this 45-minute scenic hayride will bring us through Custer State Park, and if we're lucky, we may get a sighting of the areas wildlife. That evening we will enjoy a western cookout and sing-a-long.
Or our way back home we'll stop at "America's Favorite Roadside Attraction", Wall Drug, home of the infamous free cold water! Here we will enjoy lunch and shopping opportunities.
