Our first stop in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin will be to the Geneva Lake Museum. Situated inside what used to be the city's Power and Light building, this historic facility provides a wonderful backdrop to the exhibits we will see. As we walk along the museum's 'Main Street' we will peek into historic stores, homes and school room for a close-up look at artifacts such as clothing, tools and machines used from 1830 to 1930. We will learn about the farm tools used during this time, see a fire engine house and wagon from 1890, what a general store from the era would have looked like, as well as an extensive arrowhead collection from the Potawatami Indian Tribe who used to live in the area.
Beyond the museum's 'Main Street' is its North Gallery. Here we will learn about Hotel Geneva, designed by the famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. We will also learn about the area's private mansions, the Western Railway and the boats and yachts that occupy the waters of Geneva Lake. Who knew there could be so much history stored along the shores of this beautiful lake?!
After learning about the history of Lake Geneva, we will explore the city and get to know it a bit more…. By shopping! It doesn't matter if you're a window shopper, or are looking for a perfect souvenir to bring home, this quaint area has a store for everyone. From antique shops, designer fashions, outdoor gear, to sweet shops and gift shop, you'll find it here!
We will end our day with dinner and a show at the Fireside Theatre. For over 55 years, the Fireside Theatre has been providing entertainment and dining to the Midwest. The show we will see is 'What Happens In Vegas'. This show is a tribute to the world's best dancers, singers, musicians and comedians that have graced the stages of Las Vegas. The Fireside Band and Steve Watts will perform music from Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Rat Pack to artists of today, like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, plus many more of your favorites of the Las Vegas strip.
Our final day in Lake Geneva we will spend at The Dancing Horses Theatre. This is a horse lovers must see show and Wisconsin's #1 must see attraction. This show is a dazzling spectacle that features many different horse breads who perform alongside their trainers. We'll see a visually stunning showcase of acrobatics, equestrian artistry, and costumes. Before the show, we'll enjoy time at the theatre's petting zoo, The Animal Garden's. Here we will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with 16 species of exotic creatures, and 60 hay-eating animals. From raccoons, deer and sheep, to llamas and ducks. After feeding and petting the animals on the farm, we'll stop to see Echo the Singing Bird! This effervescent yellow-headed parrot and his trainer Sarah, will show off his many talents, including singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm'. What makes Echo so special is that he appears to bring human qualities to the stage. And you'll have to make sure you give him a big applause as he enjoys the spotlight!
