If you love animals, animal interactions, and Halloween, then get ready for a spooktacular trip in Kansas! This special trip will take us to the Topeka Zoo and the Tanganyika Wildlife Park for wonderful Halloween themed events.
We'll begin with a trip to the Topeka Zoo where we'll have the opportunity to see over 250 animals in a number of exhibits. We'll see both Asian and African Elephants stomping through the grass, the tiny four-toed hedgehog (which have over 2,000 spikes on their backs!), the majestic American golden eagle, and the Sumatran Tiger which is the smallest surviving tiger subspecies, so it'll be a rare treat to see them! And speaking of treats, don't forget to bring your costume, this is Halloween after all! During our day, we will be trick-or-treating around the zoo for their Boo at the Zoo event. We recommend a costume that's not too scary, especially around the striped skunk exhibit…. You wouldn't want to scare them so much that you get sprayed! At the event, there will be many local Kansas businesses passing out candies and other goodies as well as a hay maze and other fun activities.
Next up on this ghoulish animal adventure will bring us to the Tanganyika Wildlife Park for their Pumpkins in the Park event, so don't retire your costumes just yet! When we enter the Park, a pumpkin path will light our way as we stop at candy stations, see the waterfall light show, and explore their inflatable obstacle course. There will also some hands-on animal opportunities as well during the event. If candy isn't your preferred meal of choice, they'll be plenty of other seasonal bites to eat such as hot dogs, caramel apples and warm apple cider.
Get ready for an exciting day which is all about the animals. With all access animal encounter passes we'll be up close and personal with exotic animals. We'll start by feeding ring-tailed lemurs which is the most popular exhibit at the zoo. These loveable animals have tails longer than their bodies and if you're lucky enough you'll get to feel their incredibly soft feet. Then head over to new heights to feed a giraffe, with 14 inch tongues we hope they have good aim to get the food out of your hand! And let's not forget the hungry, hungry hippos. Posie and her daughter Nessie love getting food from their new friends, and you may get a chance to feel their slippery skin while tossing food into their mouths. There are plenty of other animals we will interact with while at Tanganyika, such as the Nigerian Dwarf Goats, who will literally eat almost anything, even the shirt of your back if you let them (just not Halloween candy, we wouldn't want them to get a tummy ache), the famous 'sneezing' alpacas, and colorful Lories which are a colorful type of parrot (sweet nectar is their favorite).
All animal and Halloween enthusiasts are welcome to join us on this exciting Kansas trip!
