Ready, Set, Goooooo!!

Get ready for an exciting and action-packed adventure and travel with Special Journeys to watch the best race car drivers compete for the #1 spot!

On this trip, we travel to Kansas City where we will watch two amazing races at the Kansas Speedway. This 1.5-mile tri-oval race track is where we'll hear the engines roar and the crowd cheer for the favorite driver. When we first arrive at the Speedway we will take a walk down the Midway to see the event booths. This is where we try racing simulators, take photos with race cars, and even get a couple freebies along the way! Before the race we will travel to pit road to watch the drivers and their teams prepare the cars for the big race and participate in the time trials.

Once we make our way to our seats, where we will be able to see all around the track for the first race of our trip, the Kansas Lottery 300. This 200 lap race is the fourth race of the Xfinity Series playoffs. At this 'minor league' circuit race we'll get to see incredibly talented drivers looking to step up to NASCAR's top-level circuit, the NASCAR Cup Series. We'll have to see if Brandon Jones, the 22-year-old who won last year's race can hold his spot again this year. He is from the Joe Gibbs Racing team who has had drivers that have raced in 7 of the last 10 years at this race.

The next day we'll see the big names in NASCAR racing compete in the Hollywood Casino 400. Drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, and the defending winner of last year's race, Denny Hamlin, have all competed and won. This race consists of 400.5 miles and 267 laps around the Kansas Speedway. The Hollywood Casino 400 is the seventh of ten races in the Cup Series playoffs, and this year it will be the opening race of the Round of 8.

While we're at the Speedway watching our favorite drivers win, we will grab some snacks to eat while we enjoy the race. There's plenty to choose from such as that famous KC BBQ, Tex Mex, to pizza and burgers. When we are not watching a race, we will have time to shop for some of the best sports memorabilia around so you have the perfect souvenir to bring home. After the race, we will all enjoy dinner at a fun, interactive sports restaurant with some of the best sports memorabilia around!
