Lettin’ Off Steam in LeClaire

Join Special Journeys as we head to beautiful LeClaire, Iowa for an unforgettable adventure along the beautiful Mississippi River!  On this exciting trip you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty, and some fun activities we have planned for you.

We will begin our journey in LeClair, IA, where we’ll board the Twilight River Boat Cruise There’s no better way to experience the Mississippi River than to hop aboard an old-fashioned riverboat.  The cruise will depart from the Port of LeClaire and will travel north to take in the sights of Pt Byron and Princeton, Iowa as well as Cordova, Illinois. The next day the boat will load up and we will sail back to the Port of LeClaire.

We’ll sit in the wooden rocking chairs on the blue and white ship, adorned with intricate iron rails and relax while taking in the sights and wildlife upon the shore.  This special riverboat was designed and built as a replica to the lavish Victorian steamboats and are reminders of the classic boats Mark Twain called ‘Floating Palaces’.  Our first day we’ll enjoy the beautiful ship and dine on delicious three course meals as we start our way to our destination, Dubuque, Iowa.  When we are dining on the delicious food and looking at the wildlife of the river, we can sit and enjoy the on-board entertainment.  We’ll listen to the boat’s band, complete with banjos and guitars, play music to really get us into the spirit of the Mississippi!

After the first day on the cruise, we’ll head to Grand Harbor Resort in Dubuque, IA, where we’ll enjoy a comfortable and welcoming stay located on the Mississippi Riverfront.  The resort offers a range of amenities perfect for relaxation and fun after a day of sightseeing. Our spacious accommodations ensure that everyone feels at home, with accessible rooms and features to accommodate our group’s needs.

On the following morning, we’ll visit the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. This interactive museum offers an exciting and educational experience, where you can explore the rich history of the Mississippi River and its wildlife. This wonderful facility allows us to explore all about the river we’ve just spent time on. We learn about how boats are launched into the river, see how historic artisans used hand tools to make boats, listen to stories of explorers of the area and many other historic items that will allow us to really appreciate the area.

Then we will boat the boat again and enjoy another wonderful day sailing back to the Port of LeClaire.

We can’t wait to share this adventure with you!
