Join us for a delightful, slow-paced adventure along the mighty Mississippi River! This isn’t your typical whirlwind tour; we’re taking it easy, soaking in the sights, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
We’ll begin our trip with a stop at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, is a magical place where the lines between fantasy and reality blur. It’s where dreams come true, one pitch at a time! Whether you’re a fan of the 1989 classic movie Field of Dreams or simply love the idea of stepping onto a ballpark where history was made, this iconic site is a must-see. You can actually step onto the famous diamond where Kevin Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella, heard the voice that said, “If you build it, they will come.” And guess what? You’ll be coming, too! Behind the outfield lies the stunning cornfield, just like in the film. There’s something peaceful and nostalgic about the rows of corn swaying in the breeze, serving as the perfect backdrop for memories made in this special spot.
You’ll get to see the house where Ray Kinsella and his family lived, nestled right beside the field. The house, along with the surrounding landscape, gives you the full movie experience. It’s the perfect place to imagine what it would feel like to hear the whispers of the past, just like Ray did. Before you leave, don’t forget to stop by the gift shop for a souvenir or two—a baseball cap, a bat, or a cozy sweatshirt. It’s the perfect memento from your visit to the Field of Dreams!
Ever wondered what the Mississippi River has to say? Well, our next attraction brings us the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. This museum is packed with fascinating exhibits where the river speaks through history, animals, and boats. You’ll discover why this river is so much more than just water!
Explore exhibits that highlight the river’s role in America’s history. From Native American culture to the steamboat era, the museum takes you on a historical journey, highlighting the key role the river has played in the nation’s development, commerce, and culture.
The aquarium features displays of the river’s diverse ecosystems. You’ll encounter a range of fish species native to the Mississippi, including sturgeon, catfish, and bass. It’s like peering into the river’s watery world, seeing firsthand the variety of creatures that call this vast waterway home.
Visitors can see a wide variety of aquatic life in the museum’s large aquariums, including native river species and larger creatures like alligators and turtles. The tanks are thoughtfully designed to mirror the Mississippi’s natural habitats, giving visitors an up-close view of the diverse species that rely on the river.
After our show we’ll stop and sell the roses at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens in Rockford, IL. Here we will bask in the beauty of this lush, tropical oasis. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of this living masterpiece — plants and flowers that make you feel like you’ve walked into paradise. The centerpiece of the Nicholas Conservatory is the stunning glass-enclosed conservatory. Inside, you’ll find an array of tropical plants that thrive in the warm, humid environment. The conservatory is home to a variety of exotic flowers, palms, ferns, and other lush greenery from around the world. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a calm, refreshing walk through a living garden no matter the weather outside.
Our final stop is where serenity meets style in this Japanese-inspired garden at Anderson Gardens. Take a leisurely stroll through serene ponds, beautiful bridges, and winding paths — the perfect place to reflect, relax, and reconnect with nature (and your inner Zen). Known for its serene beauty, lush greenery, and traditional design elements, this 12-acre garden offers a peaceful escape into a world of nature and calm. It’s a perfect spot for visitors seeking relaxation, inspiration, or simply a break from the hustle and bustle.
This isn’t just a trip; it’s a treasure hunt for beauty, history, and a whole lot of fun. So pack your bags, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready to uncover the Mississippi River’s most cherished gems!
