Accessible TripAdd a little Honky Tonk to your Holiday celebration this year and travel to Music City with Special Journeys!
So, grab your cowboy boots and Santa hat, and get ready for a good time, ya’ll!
We begin this trip to Music City with a ride on the General Jackson Showboat which is the quintessential Nashville experience. Touted as one of Nashville’s top tourist attractions and one of the largest showboats ever built, The General Jackson was named after another riverboat of the same name that was built in 1817. This 300-foot paddle wheel showboat will cruise along the Cumberland River offering beautiful views of the Nashville skyline. We will enjoy a delicious buffet meal and a wonderful holiday themed show where we’ll hear beloved Christmas classics by artists such as Bing Crosby, Michael Buble and more! The show will feature 5 of Nashville’s finest and diverse vocal and dancing talents and they embody all the spirit and magic of Christmas.
Our next stop will bring us to Nashville where we will immerse ourselves in everything Johnny Cash! We will enjoy the Ultimate Cash Experience which will include a private, guided tour of the Johnny Cash Museum. The museum is filled with the largest collection of memorabilia and artifacts from Johnny’s life. We will walk through the life of the Man in Black, with interactive exhibits, films and more. There are over 25 of his famous costumes, handwritten notes, and some of June Carter’s items as well. This special museum was curated with the help of Johnny’s family, so it’s a truly remarkable experience that is a must-see while in Music City.
The classic country music tour doesn’t stop there! Located in the same building as the Johnny Cash Museum, we will journey upstairs to the Patsy Cline Museum. We will get a detailed look into the life of one of country music’s leading ladies. You can watch a short film about Ms. Cline, view her personal artifacts and letters, as well as her iconic outfits. The museum begins the tour at the start of her life, you’ll learn about her humble beginnings, and make our way through to learn about her rise to stardom. It’s certainly a stop you can’t miss if you’re a true Patsy fan.
While on our tour of Nashville we will stop in and see a show at the Grand Ole Opry Theater, that’s right, THE Grand Old Opry, which is a music venue dedicated to honoring country music and its history. A trip to Nashville wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the theater to see some great Christmas themed country music. If you’re a fan of country, we know you’ve heard of the Opry, which has been a staple of Nashville for decades. This is the place that ‘made country music famous’ after all! The biggest names in country music have played here, such as Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks, and so many more. While the exact line up for the date of our visit has not been announced yet, it promises to be an amazing show with great country music!
Our final stop in Nashville will be for lunch and a tour of the Gaylord Opryland. There is no better way to celebrate the holidays than by spending some time at Christmas at Opryland. The exact activities that have been planned for the 2023 Holiday Season have not yet been announced, we know you’ll truly enjoy what they’ll have to offer. Think LARGE ice sculptures, Christmas lights, delicious southern BBQ, and more!
