Want to get away and see some sights and do some shopping in Kansas City? This exciting weekend trip will include the best of Kansas City and provide a nice, relaxing getaway vacation!

We will eat at the nationally acclaimed Arthur Bryant Barbeque restaurant and sample some of their incredible food. Learn why a renowned author declared that "...the single best restaurant in the world is Arthur Bryant's Barbeque..."

For shopping we will shop at the unique Legends Mall and also at the Zona Rosa Mall. Legends Mall has many unique stores and one popular store is always the T-Rex Gift Shop for T-Rex and dinosaur items. Zona Rosa has many different types of stores including a large and unique Marshall's Department Store which always has good finds available.

Another meal will be at Fritz's Train Car where your food will be delivered by a train and then lowered to your table! Another restaurant will be Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill. Sample some down-home cooking straight from Toby's kitchen, like fried bologna sandwiches or the Toby Keith burger with sweet potato pecan pie. You can also sit back, enjoy your favorite beverage and listen to great live music.

At the Crown Center we will take a guided tour of the Hallmark Visitor Center. We will learn about card making and see original paintings by Norman Rockwell, Winston Churchill, Grandma Moses, and Saul Steinberg. We will also watch a technician hand-make engraving dies-the metal plates that raise the three-dimensional designs on paper, which work like steel cookie cutters to make unusually shaped cards! We will also see an actual press in operation and watch cards actually being made. You can also operate bow making machine and watch as it turns ribbon into a miniature star bow that you can take home with you! In another area of the center you can see costumes, props, and a real Emmy award from Hallmark TV shows on display.

Another destination will be Union Station. This fully restored 1914 landmark is Kansas City's most prominent destination for entertainment and cultural activities. The Station is home to a permanent rail exhibit with vintage rail cars, an interactive science center and unique shops. While there we can see 1,000 square feet of miniature railroad exhibit, a 1950s locomotive and Observation Car and a Locomotive simulator. We will also see the Science City, where science fact is more fascinating than science fiction. This modern science center features interactive exhibits and offers a hands-on experience that's so much fun. See the Dino Lab, a real laboratory with real scientists working on real dinosaur fossils. It's real cool! Also Train to be an astronaut. Stroll through a human blood vessel. Land a space shuttle. Solve a crime. Take the dizziness challenge. Ride a bicycle 30 feet off the ground. Drive a Mars rover. Dig up fossils. There's a whole world of discovery waiting to be explored in Science City!

Note: This three day trip has morning group departure spots from Omaha, Lincoln and Des Moines. If you do not live in (or between) these cities you will need to be picked up the day before and dropped off the day after the trip.
