Summer is not complete without a visit to a state fair. The Iowa State Fair is the BEST in the Midwest with exhibits, shows, singers, animals, and the midway covering 400 acres and 80 buildings! Enjoy top-notch entertainment, a spectacular concert, and tons of different rides. See farm animals including newborn cows, pigs and chicks in a new agricultural educational facility. We will also stop and see many of the 500 booths and exhibits at the fair.
There are plenty of vendors to shop and browse products so be sure to pack your shopping shoes! Enjoy shopping and eating 20 different kinds of food-on-a-stick. There will be nearly 200 different food stands to choose from! Fried Twinkies, Fried Oreos and Fudge Covered Waffles optional but recommended!
One of the traveler favorites on past trips is the new agricultural educational facility. It's a wonderful place where you can experience many different newborn farm animals in a safe environment. Imagine holding a chick or seeing baby ducks waddling around. Other animals include cattle, sheep, goats and piglets. We will also learn the different animal names such as ewes, rams, hoggets and lambs. Of course together they all make up a "mob" or a "flock" of sheep!
So meet the gaggle of Special Journeys travelers - be a part of the trip (and see the trip of goats). See the brood (located just past the droves) and don't miss the brace, the sounder and the span. Finally, since there are TONS of rabbits it's probably most appropriate to say see the "colony" - though herd might better describe the hundreds present!
Your Special Journey adventure includes the opportunity to have tons of fun, see exciting new places and meet new friends! Our Guaranteed Cost™ trips means there are absolutely no hidden costs - your trip includes everything necessary to have a great time including all meals, lodging (in your own, regular bed), all transportation including local pickup and drop off in your city, all entertainment and activities, an experienced tour leader and experienced staff care in 1:3 and 1:4 small groups. Travelers only need to bring souvenir and snack money. For the record, if you see a group of porcupines - it's called a "prickle"!
